Wedding Planning & Ideas

Bridesmaid Dresses
One of the most difficult
tasks when planning a wedding is to select a bridesmaid dress that all your
attendants are happy with. Because everyone is shaped differently and has
different tastes, it is often impossible to please everyone. The important
thing is to select a style that is generally eye-pleasing and compliments
your own gown and overall wedding style.
While it is common to try
and select a dress that your attendants can use again, often this is
unlikely. Rather, make cost and style your top priorities. If your gown and
wedding ceremony are what is considered very formal, you should select your
bridesmaids' dresses accordingly. Likewise, a small, semiformal wedding
would call for a semiformal attendants dress.
Consider alterations as
well. If most of your attendants have narrow shoulders and you select a
dress with an off-the-shoulder collar, the majority will need alterations.
Tuxedos
Although many grooms
already know the style of tuxedo that they want, oftentimes this task falls
on the bride. If you find yourself having to select the tuxedos for your
wedding in addition to everything else, don't fret. Tuxedo shopping is
easier than you might think.
Base your groomsmen attire
according to your own. If you plan to wear a formal dress, your groom and
his attendants should wear a single or double-breasted jacket with formal
trousers. A formal pleated shirt with cufflinks, studs, bow tie and vest are
usually worn with this.
If your formal wedding is
to take place before 5 P.M., a stroller or cutaway jacket is appropriate.
This coat tapers from a front waist into long back tails. Accessories would
include a wing collar shirt with an ascot and a coordinating vest.
For spring or summer weddings, a white dinner jacket or even a white tie (for very formal weddings) is appropriate. With the white tie tailcoat, a wing-collar shirt and vest often are the best accessories.
